National architecture awards for two University buildings

The Blavatnik School of Government and the Weston Library are among the winners of the 2016 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) National Awards. These prestigious awards are given to buildings across the UK recognised as significant contributions to architecture.

The two University projects will join the other 44 prize-winning buildings on the shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize for the UK’s best building of the year, to be announced in October.

The judging panel described the interior of the Blavatnik School of Government as ‘quite simply breathtaking’.  The Weston library was recognised as a building of ‘national importance’ where ‘the care that was taken in the consideration of this refurbishment is obvious’.
