The Weston Library (formerly New Bodleian Library) has been shortlisted for the prestigious British Construction Industry Awards in the Major Building Project of the Year (over £50m) category.

The transformation of the grade II listed building has already generated praise from users, visitors and the media alike.  Closed for four years, it has undergone major work to turn it into an exciting and dynamic resource that will encourage greater access and engagement for the University and general public. New facilities include study rooms, reading rooms and a visiting scholars centre.  Above and below ground, more than 40km of state-of-the-art storage facilities now house the special collections, including four of the 18 surviving copies of Magna Carta. The library also offers two exhibition spaces, a lecture theatre, café and shop.

Project architects, Wilkinson Eyre, and construction manager, Mace, undertook the design and build contract under the management of the Estates Services Capital Projects team.
